North Ayrshire Swimming’s Lewis Anderson has added another medal to his collection with a terrific second place finish in the Scottish National Youth Triathlon Championships.
The race was staged at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow, and unusually, this time the swim element was in a pool, rather than open water like the British Super Series he also competes at.
The 15-year-old from Dalry, who trains with the club’s senior squads, was competing over a 400m swim, followed by a 10km bike ride and a 3km run to the finish.
Lewis was sitting in 4th place at the end of the swim, with a 28 second deficit to the leader, but made up time in the first of the transitions and was already into second place at the start of the cycle.
He held the position to the end finishing with an overall time of 33:30.8
If swim mums and dads think there’s a lot of travelling involved in getting to meets then spare a thought for the Anderson family!
Already this season Lewis has raced in Oxfordshire and Leeds, and this weekend he’s heading to the south east again to compete in the next round of the British Super Series at the Eton Dorney Lake Triathlon, which you may remember was one of the venues for the 2012 London Olympics.
