The big season-ending meets kick off today and North Ayrshire will have four swimmers – Rory Dickson, Fraser Kelly, Jen Murray & Andrew Sutherland – competing at the Scottish National Open in Aberdeen.
For Rory it’s a case of heading straight back up the road after being part of the Scotland Youth Development Squad training camp, which continued the association with Swim Wales youth squad.
There were 26 Scottish swimmers and 18 Welsh athletes taking part over the three days at the Aberdeen Sports Village.
Olympians, Jazz Carlin and Hannah Miley were part of the team on poolside supporting the swimmers and answering their questions.
North Ayrshire Swimming Head Coach, Jess Wilkie, was part of the support staff alongside national coaches and a team or expert sports analysts and athlete mentors.
Jess told us: “It was a pleasure to spend the weekend with some amazing coaches and swimmers.
“The focus was on starts and turns and we had the luxury of using the new underwater camera system allowing swimmers and coaches to analyse all phases.
“The TVs were on a 30sec delay and showed really fine details that we don't normally have the opportunity to see.
“It was a fantastic experience for swimmers and staff.”
This year it’ll be even easier to follow the progress of our team in Aberdeen with Scottish Swimming announcing the BBC will be live streaming the finals sessions on their website starting at 16.50 this afternoon.
